Cost Analysis and Cash Flow Analysis using Power BI

  • On the left side, the data from excel is for Cost Analysis. It is a simple analysis on, which Activities if performed is making loss and which activities are making profit. Total Budgeted Price is what you will charge to the Client and Actual Total Price is the cost you will actually incur.

  • On the right side, the data from Excel is for developing Cost based S-Curve and Cash Flow Curve. Based on the Total Budgeted Cost, every Activity has a calculated Waitage Point . As on 29-Mar-22 (Data Date), the Planned % competed is auto calculated and Activity % Completed is based on the Inputs from Project Stakeholders. Using these information, we will create a S-Curve in Power BI Dashboard.

Power BI is capable of reflecting the latest data from source irrespective of number of changes done to the file as long as two things remain unchanged,

  • Path/name of the Excel File
  • Changes to the file content like format
However, above two changes also can be addressed manually in Power BI.
